What did the contemporary witnesses tell us?

Stories of Our Neighbours is an educational project of the non-profit organisation Post Bellum for pupils in the eighth and ninth grades of primary schools. Their task is to interview a witness, record memories, digitalize photographs, research historical context and finally create a radio, television or animated report or comic strip.

From September 2023, pupils from primary schools in Bílovice nad Svitavou, Ivanovice na Hané, Jedovnice, Mokrá-Horákov, Pustiměř and Šlapanice will take part in the project.

Thanks to their work, the unique life stories of the witnesses have been preserved and will be published and stored on the project website and will be included in the Memory of Nation archive, which is one of the largest collections of memories of witnesses in Europe.

The culmination of the project is a public celebratory meeting of all participating student teams and witnesses, their families, representatives of the participating municipalities, towns and cities and supporters of the project. This meeting will take place on Tuesday 12 March 2024 at 5 PM at the Radost Theatre in Brno. The pupils will present the result of their research work and introduce the memorialist and his or her story to the public. You are cordially invited and if you are interested, please make a free reservation at divadlo@divadlo-radost.cz.

Thanks to the newly emerging cooperation with the Institute of the Memory of Nation Brno, we are presenting the production 24 October 1942 for the participating student teams of the project at 12 AM on the same day.
