The fantasy novel for children
The fantasy novel for children by the American writer L. F. Baum was first published in 1900 and became very popular thanks to several film, theater, musical, and even ballet adaptations. Little Dorothy lives with her uncle and aunt in Kansas, but one day a tornado sweeps over their home. It takes Dorothy and the house to the magical land of OZ, where strange little Munchkins live. Because Dorothy wants to return home, the Munchkins advise her to go to the Emerald City to see the powerful Wizard, who is the only one who can help her. On the way, Dorothy meets a Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion. They become friends and also want to ask the wizard for help. Together they overcome many obstacles and even deal with the Wicked Witch of the West. In the end, it turns out that the wizard is not nearly as powerful and mysterious as everyone in the land of OZ thought...
