A multidimensional project based on the work of Janusz Korczak, a Polish Jewish writer, paediatrician, educator and long-time director of an orphanage for Jewish children, who perished with the young children in the Treblinka extermination camp.
The children are trying to find their way through the dark forest. They are afraid because it is dark and cold. They are just children, but they have rights too. The right to respect. The right not to know, but also the right to know. The right to fail, to cry and not be silenced when they cry. The right to their belongings, their place, their life. The right not to say anything and not to reveal, the right to confidentiality. The right to play, the right to just be. But in the dark forest, they lost their rights. The dark forest recognizes no laws. Will the children pass through it and finally see the sun?
Forbidden Children is a story about the journey to freedom, fear and loneliness. The search for the child within. The never-ending pressure to live up to other people's expectations. The show won an award at the 26th International Festival for Children and Youth Korczak TODAY.
